Dr. Leiming Li is the CEO of the International Academy of Inventions (IAI). He received his B.S. degree in Applied Physics from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, and Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After a few years of postdoctoral research, first at Northwestern University and later at Rice University, he joined the oil industry in 2006, with working experience in a number of companies including Schlumberger, Halliburton, Baker Hughes, and Aramco.
Dr. Li is a world expert in novel well treatment fluids and oilfield chemistry solutions. Among his major achievements, he pioneered in the practical reuse of oilfield produced water (the largest waste stream of oil production), for which he was awarded two “Performed by Schlumberger” bronze awards as the project team leader. Dr. Li was the finalist of the World Oil Innovative Thinker Award in 2018. He was later interviewed by the “World Oil” magazine, a major trade magazine of the petroleum industry, and featured on the June 2019 issue of “World Oil” titled “Leiming Li: Facilitating a More Prosperous Industry.”
Dr. Li currently holds 55 patents granted in the US, and 50 patents granted in other nations. He has 93 published US patent applications. Dr. Li has also published over 44 papers, mainly in SPE conferences and peer-reviewed journals such as “Science” and “Nature Materials”.
